Will Stephen Colbert be Huckabee’s running mate?

On Wednesday nights episode of “The Colbert Report” with Stephen Colbert, Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee made a guest appearance via satellite from South Carolina (supposedly). He and Colbert discussed various topics such as hamburgers, guns, evolution, global warming, and foreign policy.
On previous episodes of the show, Huckabee had asked Colbert to be his running mate, and on last nights episode, he seemed to confirm it. He said he wanted to thank him for the “Colbert bump” he received from him. “The only reason I’m the front-runner now is because of the Colbert bump. If it were not for that, I would not be sitting in this chair. I would be probably somewhere serving hamburgers at a drive-in restaurant.”
Colbert mentioned that since Huckabee had been criticized for lack of enough foreign policy experience, he can help balance out the ticket.
” I’ve been overseas, I’ve been to Sandals Resort in Jamaica, I’ve been to Sandals Resort in the Bahamas, I’ve been to Sandals resort in Barbados — I’ve been to Epcot.
Perfect. It’s a match made in heaven.
Or is it?
I called up Mike Huckabee’s presidential campaign office, and asked: Is Mike Huckabee really choosing Stephen Colbert as his running mate?
The woman on the phone replied: No.
So I asked: So it’s just a joke?
The woman replied: Yes, just a joke.
Sorry, guys. I guess it’s too good to be true. As much as we’d all love to see Colbert in the White House, it looks like it ain’t happening anytime soon.
Could this be wrong? Yes, and I hope so — for the sake of political entertainment. But right now, we all have to assume
it’s not happening, and go sob in a corner.

It is a shame that it isn’t real. The world of politics is pretty much a joke anyway, we might as well put a comedian in the White House.
