Stephen ColbertStephen Colbert’s application to run for president as a South Carolina Democrat was rejected 14-3 because he “wasn’t a serious candidate.” Joe Werner, the party’s director, said that “there was discussion about it,” adding that there was no appeal process. The party plans to submit it’s final ballot on Thursday. Colbert couldn’t run as a Republican because the $35,000 application fee was too steep. Colbert’s only chance now, would be to collect 10,000 signatures and run as an independent, said Chris Whitmire, a State Election Commission spokesperson. Is this the end of his presidential bid? I doubt it, but we’ll have to wait and see.  Something tells me that Stephen won’t give up this easy.
